7 Reasons Why David Moyes Will Fail At Manchester United

1. He ain't no Ferguson:

Sir Alex Ferguson was a great coach. Two decades of continuous success which United had were in a large part down to him. His ability to extract the best from everyone was the key reason why United players gave it their best.

Alex Ferguson’s half time team talk during the 1999 European Cup Final is stuff of the legends:

“At the end of this game, the European Cup will be only six feet away from you and you’ll not even able to touch it if we lose. And for many of you that will be the closest you will ever get. Don’t you dare come back in here without giving your all”.

His ruthless streak was one important reason. In order to win you need to have that ruthlessness, that willingness to kill your opponents. He was greedy for trophies.
He used shady tactics, Fergie Time is legendary but it worked. United dominated English Football.
There was a determination to succeed yet there was a softer side to him, he nurtured players. Ronaldo and many others think of him as their second father. He was feared by his peers. He was admired by his colleagues. He was worshiped by his fans. He was respected by his players.
He knew that when you are ahead, you should strengthen yourself. Arsene Wenger didn't do that and he suffered.
He had one goal - 'to knock Liverpool off their fucking perch' and he did it.

2. He has no CL experience:

David Moyes has never managed a team in the Champions League group stages.
Here are his amateurish remarks about it:
"...I'm looking to the likes of Ryan Giggs and a few players around me for the things which I need to be told about."

"...I've watched loads of games, managed in the Europa League. Everybody has to start somewhere."

He has watched loads of games.
Next he'll tell us how he managed to win Champions League on FIFA in Legendary mode.

Do these remarks show any signs of a confident man?
It seems the biggest reason why he was chosen is because he is from Glasgow, the same region where Sir Alex and Matt Busby were from. He doesn't deserve it.

3. Opponents are getting stronger:

Manuel Pelligrini and Mourinho have been given a war chest by their owners. They have made many signings and have strengthened their squad. United have regressed.

City have been tigers in this transfer season. Last season they missed out on Robin van Persie and it hurt them. This season they have learnt from their mistake.

Mourinho is out to get our Wayne Rooney and in the process weaken United.

4. He lacks that clout:

Dwight Yorke has warned former United, that they may struggle to attract big names to Old Trafford under David Moyes.

"When United came calling and Sir Alex Ferguson was on the phone, you kind of got a buzz from it. Does he [Moyes] have that? That is the one question. Yeah, they come to play for the club, but normally you come to play for the manager as well. So, David Moyes has his work cut out in terms of trying to convince the big names."

He has failed to sign new players.

Soon United transfers will end up like this "Man Utd have put a bid in for Heskey as all other bids are ignored, Heskey set to reject offer"

After failing to buy even a single player he turned to his old club Everton and failed to lure even Fellaini and Baines.

5. Players sense weakness:

He has failed to sign Thiago, Fabregas. Sir Alex wouldn't have faced such a problem. They know that United is on the decline with Moyes and don't want to join United.
There are signs that Rooney, Evra, Nani will leave United this season.

United look desperate in the transfer market. Despite their repeated attempts they have failed to sign up a decent midfielder.
Strootman and Thiago are off the transfer market. Barcelona are saying no to every attempt made by United to sign Fabregas.

Spurs, City and Chelsea have managed to sign up several good players to strengthen their squads. United and Arsenal seem to have languished.

6. United have been murdered in the preseason by lowly teams:

1-0 to Singha All-Star XI.
3-2 to Yokohama F-Marinos
2-2 to Cerezo Osaka thanks to a last gasp winner by Zaha

Don't give me any excuse of this being the pre-season. Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool too have been playing similar oppositions. They didn't loose, instead they have been trouncing those sides. This will give them confidence to go out there and carry the same form in the PL. United is a broken house under Moyes.

Arsenal defeated Indonesian Dream Team 7-0
Chelsea defeated Malaysia 4-1
Liverpool defeated Thailand 3-0

7. Back room changes:

A man is only as good as his team. Sir Alex had a great back room team including Rene Meulensteen, Mike Phelan and Eric Steele.
Rene Meulensteen has resigned as Manchester United’s first-team coach, this coupled with the departure of assistant manager Mike Phelan and goalkeeping coach Eric Steele has been a big blow.
Phelan was considered a very good man manager and given the success that United have had since 2008, Phelan has to take some credit for that.

They have been there and done that. Winning Premier League is a habit for them. Moyes should have used their experience of being a champion. Instead he has fired them all and called in familiar faces from Everton, a mid-table side. The Scot wants to choose the staff he works with.

There is no one left from Sir Alex Ferguson's championship winning back room staff.

Here's what Rene Meulensteen said:

"David, with all due respect, you've done a fantastic job in the Premier League with Everton but do you realise you're going from a yacht to a cruise ship?" Ferguson, the captain, had a good crew with people like me.

True United fans who were "MoYES we can" should ask for #moyesout if they want United to continue the glorious winning tradition of Fergie and Busby.

Mourinho would have won the treble for us...

  3. I know the transfer window isn't over and anything could still happen but even as a fan who sticks by Man Utd through thick and thin, I can't help but feel disappointed just sitting here watching almost every other team strengthen.

  4. United should sign Daniel Levy as their chairman. The man is a transfer window monster who makes Woodward look an amateur!

  8. How lame are you? You call yourself a true fan, in reality you are a plastic fan like the fans of Chelshit and Man Shitty.
You trust in Fergie, you treat him like a God but you go against his most important decision! Even if United don't win anything this season, people like me, the true fans will stand by the team and hopefully people like you can move on to other teams. It is the start of a new era for this club, and we would love to start it without you!

  11. Absolute horse muck. Mourinho, though talented, would have dragged United's name through the mud. Moyes' modesty, which you mistake for his being 'amateurish', belies his talent and determination as a coach.

He has consistently over-achieved with Everton on a budget that dwarfed anything the likes of Mou or Pep has ever had to work with. Amid all the 'Aguerooooo' hyperbole, it is easy to forget that United were, in fact, undone by a Moyes-coached Everton the season before last, costing us - and gifting City - the title.

Give the man time. He's Fergie's choice and has carried himself with a dignity that so-called fans like you clearly lack. You massive cunthammer.

  14. United are on the slide with Moyes in charge. No players signed and nobody wants to sign for them.
Shame Taggert left suppose, would love to see him crying when United finish 6th or 7th at best Come on Chelsea !!!!!!!

  15. What a stupid article.. City lost to Cardiff city with a war chest of 100mn and chelsea had to get referee assistance to win against villa. All that means is do not underestimate Moyes and wait for season to get started. He has always over achieved with Everton. We were champions last year with 11 more points than the second team. Putting all this together, we are in a good position to compete.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Wow i was expecting some serious ananlysis and what i got to see was a scouser or a rentie would some up with . This is amatuerish. YOU talk of pre season and conviniently forget that city lost theirs too and lost to cardif city as well. For all the money spent that is just shit. Even fergie has failed in getting certain big names and that isn't just down to the Manager. Get a grip PL has ahardly started , would be better if you held the judgement till after a couple of seasons ,there is a reason he is given a 6 year deal. Don;t expose urself plastic

  24. You cannot fault this article much. Even as a United fan what is written is true to most extent. Players would not be lining up to play for Moyes, the way they would have for SAF.
Sacking of the backroom staff was a major major mistake. United is not Everton and Europa League and mid table is not good enough for United.
SAF made mistakes and this may well be his biggest mistake. I hope Moyes succeeds but I have my doubts as he looks well out of his depth.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I said it from the moment i heard Moyes was gonna be appointed he is not the man. The transfer market shambles, and the way the team has played in the last few matches says it all. Been a fan since 1981 when United were winning zilch. Give him time some say. what for? even if he had ten years, he just is not the caliber of manager that can mange Man U.

  26. DOOMED.........
    Who is to blame.......
ALEX FERGUSON.......with his "jocks re united" policy by allowing and throwing a 2nd rate Manager Moyes into the deep end of football management. .....based on his reccomendation to a world famous club of a manager that won nothing......so stop this baiting of Moyes....hes been
    1. ALLOWED TO TAKE THE GUTS OUT OF THE CLUB
2.ALLOWED TO DESTROY THE CONFIDENCE OF THE PLAYING STAFF WITH 2ND RATE TATICS AND TRANING METHODS
3.MIS MANAGE CLUB POLICIES IN GETTING THE BEST PLAYERS AT THE CLUB BY GLORYFYING HIMSELF ON A FAR EASTERN TOUR WHEN BALE AND RONALDO WERE UP FOR GRABS
4.SHOWED HIS LACK OF MANAGEMENT CONTROL BY BOWING TO SUPPORTERS PRESSURE AND WASTING 27 MILLION ON A 3RD RATE PLAYER WHO SKILL IS GLARINGLY EXPOSED IN A CLASS TEAM
WHO IS TO BLAME.......FERGUSON AND GILL AND THE BOARD OF MANCHESTER UNITED....FOR RECCOMEDING AND APPOINTING A MANAGER WITH......NO EXPERIENCE. ......MOYES SHOULD HAVE BEEN BROUGHT IN AND SCHOOLED BY FERGUSON AND HIS SUCCESFUL BACKROOM STAFF ON THE "CORRECT WAY" TO MANAGE A WORLD CLASS CLUB.....UNLESS YOU CAN BRING BACK MULESTEEN PHELAN STEELE PLUS ALL THE STAFF THAT WE SACKED OR ALLOWED TO LEAVE THAT FORMED THE WINNING FORMULA OF MANCHESTER UNITED THEN IN MY OPINION THE CLUB IS ......DOOMED
I DONT BLAME TOP PLAYERS WANTING TO LEAVE.....IT SOWS THEY WANT TO BE SCHOOLED IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY OF WINNING.......AND MOYES CANT DELIVER THAT
    DO I BLAME DAVID MOYES......NO
YOU COULD HAVE EMPLOYED MY BINMAN AND HE MAY HAVE DONE A BETTRR JOB....WHO IS GOING TO TURN DOWN AN OPPORTUNITY LIKE THAT. .....THE BLAME LIES WITH FERGUSONS (JOCKS RE UNITED) ATTITUDE AND THE BOARD BEING SWEPT ALONG WITH HIS RECCOMENDATION....INSTEAD OF GETTING A CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING MANAGER THERE WAS ONE OR TWO AVAILABLE MURINIHO ,ANGELLOTI.......BUT WE WENT FOR A LOVELY MAN WHO HAS WON NOTHING....ENOUGH SAID

    DOOMED

  27. OHH AS A FOOT NOTE:
I HAVE BEEN A SUPPORTER OF MACHESTER UNITED SINCE 1956 GOING THROUGH ALL THE TROUBLED TIMES WITH BUSBY AFTER MUNICH...WILF MCGUNNIESS RON ATKINSON TOMMY DOCHERTY......BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCH A CLUELESS MANAGER AS IS DAVID MOYES......WELL OUT OF HIS DEPTH

    DOOMED TO FAILURE

    ReplyDelete
  28. Absolutely right. Why shouldn't Fergie cop some of the blame? 'cut from the same cloth' hmmm dubious criterion really as that seems to translate as merely having the same scottish background.
Maybe in the 80's it worked but nowadays managers who are successful are of different types. Emplpying someone on what seems the basis of natipnal identiry was never gping to work.

Proof is in the results. It is Jan and where are Everton in tne league withoit Moyes?

    ReplyDelete
  29. To clarify i mean maybe in the 80s you could give a team manager time but a team lile man utd now needs results. To get results u need a manager who has experiencr. I was never expecting to be champions again but 7th in the league? We are Not Everton!

Not only that, the same team as last year does not seem to be performing for him.
A top team needs a top class manager who can handle the qualitt of players and their ego's. It is not fair to put a man thrpugh that who has handled only average players bedore (and rooney)

Im guessing utd may finish 7th in may. If they are lucky. Teams no lonher roll over for utd. Old trafford is rather the theatre of nightmares these days!

  31. why is vidic leaving, is it because of moyes??? when moyes first became manager, i supported him a lot, i told people GIVE HIM TIME, PLEASE!!! i did that until January. Until we lost to Spurs, Sunderland twice, Swansea, Chelsea, and now Stoke. What is this? i understand Chelsea, and somewhat Spurs(but shouldve defeated since we were home but lost )) but stoke and swansea? and swansea was our home too? We also lost to stoke after like 20or 30+ yrs. I still supported him when we lost twice to Newcastle at home after 42 yrs! and Everton at Old trafford after 21 yrs! What is this, MOYES?!?! come on... atleast you cant be 1st but in the top 4??? And now Vidic is leaving :( he's been my idol since he played for spartak moscow. Ive been a united fan since the age of 8 or 9 and now im 16! SAF was legendary and the best.... but he had made one mistake, and i feel awful saying it, by putting Moyes as manager of this Team :( but i still Believe in MANUTD, and never stop supporting. No matter what you all say, i am a true die hard fan, and only i would know that because of the things i did to actually prove this.... But #GGMUFC and idk about this though... but #moyesneedstime? or #moyesout?

  32. Moyes was a park the bus sort of manager at everton. Keep a clean sheet and a point and nick a few wins. That is not acceptable at a bigger club like man u. He is tactically naive when taking the game to the opposition which you have to do at a top side and certainly when at home, hence the shocking results at Old Trafford. From Preston-Everton (won nothing) now manu doesnt make sense. Fergie put him in so he could still be the gaffer and have the run of the place, under someone like Mourinho he would not be welcome on the training ground. Moyes will always be a YES man to fergie.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Moyes... U had your chances... and u blew it many times....
Firing the back room staff is not a wise move..!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Haha this article has proven right so far. I'm a Utd Fan but Moyes hasn't got a bloody clue! I want him to do well but he is clearly out if his depth and lacks tactical knowledge. He plays Mata on the right in a 442 formation and deploys the same tactics every single game because that cunt Utd are now gonna finish in their lowest position in premier league history and will now not be able to attract quality players. It's the beginning of the end as long as he stays in charge sadly.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Moyes came in,thinks he's bigger than anyone else in the club.
Let go the championship winning back room staff and replace with everton staff...! What a joke..!
What he's trying to do here??? He's trying to transform Man Utd to everton Utd..?
    Fuck YOU! Moyes!

This is how he was like at Everton for 11 years and NO trophies. And Fergie has made the biggest mistake of his life appointing Moyes as manager. Get the shitter out and get Jurgen Klopp IN.
